You probably don’t know this unless you know me really well – but I have the frizziest hair ever! I usually get a blow-dry once per week and the other days I have been wearing my hair in a bun – not only does it let my hair take a breather from the blow dyer, but it it also takes only two minutes to do!
A couple of weeks ago, when I went to get my eyebrows done at Gee Beauty I noticed that Natalie, one of the owners, had a perfect bun with a part down the middle. The exact bun I was trying to pull off – except I had out-of-control frizzes hanging out and hers was PERFECT! She shared her trick with me:
You only need a total of two products, which are both from Oribe: 1.Superfine hairspray and 2. matte waves texture lotion. Follow these steps:
1)Part your hair down the middle- a comb helps to find the perfect part
2)Put your hair in a bun
3)Use the Oribe texture lotion with your fingers
4)Spray the Oribe superfine hairspray and then brush it down with a brush called the extension brush by Balmain
Just add a pair of pretty earrings and you’re good to go!
Working out is something that everyone should be doing. Whether it’s running around with your kids or going to the gym, it’s important to keep on moving. But – lets be honest here – if you want to keep slim, diet is the most important. People have been asking me about my go-to workout and, besides running after Jake – he doesn’t stop – I do Pilates 2-3 times per week.
What I love about Pilates is that it elongates you while toning. I can’t do anything that’s weight-bearing so this is the perfect kind of excerise for me. I also love to go on long walks with Chase, Jake, and Chester when Chase gets home from work.
Of course, it always feels good to work out in the appropriate gear that is still stylish since most of us – me included – wear it all day long! I am loving at the moment the leggings that have different materials that show contrast. What I like about leggings with different materials is that if you are self-conscious about your legs it detracts from them. Mesh is something I’m into right now!
NYC is such a special place for me – it’s the first city I lived in after graduating from University of Denver. It’s also the first city I had a real job in, the city where I fell deeper in love with fashion, and where I fell in love my husband. It’s the place where I truly became an adult.
Chase and I are headed for a quick trip to the Big Apple and I’m super excited! We are leaving Jake at home this time around. Because we are going for such a short trip, my in-laws and nanny are able to babysit.
Some of my besties still live in the City so we’ll be going to dinner with them Friday night to Vandal on the Bowery. On Saturday we are going to walk around (Soho and the West Village) until our feet fall off! Then to an early dinner at Cosme (by famed Mexico City chef Enrirque Olvera) and then off to see the Glorifa Estefan Broadway show! We head back Sunday morning. It’s been awhile since we have been to the City – I’m excited to explore! I feel like every time I go back it’s like a different city.
When I was preggers I had so many different things to worry about like not to eat unpasteurized cheese, to take my pre-natal vitamins every single night (and there were so many of them), and not to use any beauty products with formaldehyde.
I have been getting manicures once a week for as long as I can remember. I think it might be because I used to bite my nails. So I have always been on the lookout for a nail polish that wouldn’t contain chemicals harmful to the body..
I was introduced to this line called LVX and I am addicted – I have never seen such gorgeous colors! The reason -this brand is amazing is because it’s a luxury, 7 toxin free, cruelty-free and vegan brand. Their philosophy is to fuse high fashion with nail color. LVX determines the top trends closely by studying thousands of runway presentations from renowned designers. It then incorporates the colors that are on trend into its nail polishes.
To shop the polishes head over here (Instagram picture I am wearing Saint from the Winter Resort 2016).
I would say that my love for fashion doesn’t come close to the love/hate relationship I have with makeup. I find something so irritating about having to put it on to only then take it off again at the end of the night when all I want to do is go to sleep! My mom was never into makeup and my dad was always strict with me wearing it, so I never really acquired a love for it..
On my wedding day when it came time to figure out what kind of makeup I wanted, I opted for natural with fake lashes. I tried the whole fake lashes thing, and I couldn’t handle the way it felt and the maintanence involved.. But they do look amazing- so if they don’t bother you then go for it..
Here are my top 5 must haves for natural makeup, some of which I have learned through friends:
1) By Terry CC Cream – I use this all over my face- it brightens, firms, restores and repairs the skin. This product gives me a flawless complexion and is also hydrating. It’s the perfect amount of coverage! One of my best friends, Romi, has a perfect complexion and one day I asked her what her secret was. She told me that she has been using this product for years.. It comes in four different shades and I use #2. I either apply with my fingers or use the beauty blender egg.
2) Perfect Brows by Chanel- I fill in my eyebrows and this product makes them look SUPER thick. There are three different shades in this compact so you can mix the colors to better match your brows. My cousin, Alexis, from Colombia was over my house right when Jake was born and told me about this trick and it makes a huge difference.. It gives your face a more defined look.
3) Laguna Bronzer from Nars- the perfect color bronzer and doesn’t make you look too dark.
4) Chanel Le Volume 10 Mascara- the name says it all- gives the perfect amount of volume.
5) Catfight Lipstick from Nars- This is a natural everyday lipstick and is the perfect shade, I actually wore this color to my wedding.
Have a fab weekend and on Monday I’ll be showing you how I style a floral Zara dress:)
