The Perfect Blow-out @ Red Market Salon

What’s better then getting your hair done? I always feel like a new person after, even when I’m sick I get blow outs! HA! Also, getting it done at Red Market in Bal Harbour Shops is the perfect place because you walk out looking gorgeous and you can get lunch/dinner/drinks/coffee – depending on the time – and walk around the beautiful shops. I guess not great for our hubbies! HA!

I wanted to share my experience at Red Market Salon with you all. I go to Bal Harbour shops all the time to walk around. I’m always trying to get in my steps and its walkways are covered so you don’t get sun. But I have never been to the salon – and let me tell you it was fabulous and such a great time to spend my Saturday afternoon.

First, you walk in to the salon and can order whatever beverage you want including champagne. The atmosphere is very beautiful and zen-like even though it’s a salon.

For me, part of getting a blow out is the wash and, let me tell you, at Red Market it’s 100 percent a head massage! Such a deep scrub that I haven’t felt in a while! They use a brush that massages your head and since I had been up since 5:30 and was running around all day it was amazing, I almost fell asleep.

Rogelio did my blow out and it was done so meticulously! You can just tell he loves what he does – he was so sweet and complimentary. I wanted beach waves and that’s exactly what I got! He did such a great job blowing out my hair that I thought maybe I should keep it but the waves were done perfectly! Two days later and my hair looks almost as good. Rogelio does cuts, blow outs and makeup. Be sure to ask for him and you won’t be disappointed! Do yourself a favor: treat yourself!

Cartagena Travel Guide

We went to Cartagena last week for my cousin’s wedding and it was such a fun trip that I wanted to share our experience with you all. I was speaking to someone before I left and she asked if I was scared to go and, let me tell you, the security inside the old city is insanely good! We didn’t feel unsafe at any point. Of course we didn’t wear our nicest jewelry (you should leave it at home), because it’s better to always be safe.

When we arrived to the airport in Ft. Lauderdale we were told that our nanny wasn’t able to travel with us because we didn’t realize she needed a visa. Thankfully we were visiting a country where help is everywhere and the wedding planner had recommended a service to my sister so we just did the same. If you write me an email I’ll share our lady’s # she was excellent if you are planning on bringing kids and want help.

The city is just so beautiful and it was a perfect time to visit because the weather was just right, it wasn’t too hot and we were still able to walk around the old city.

We stayed at the Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa and the hotel was so beautiful (Chase and I had stayed seven years prior). The service is impeccable, the food is delicious and, in between us, very inexpensive. We had vacationed in Arizona prior to Thanksgiving and stayed at a resort-type place and it was five times the price and the service was terrible. People in Colombia are just all so nice and cheerful!

The first night we slipped into La Vitrola for some delicious seafood and drinks. It was absolutely incredible and a must-go to restaurant. Def make a reservation if you can! Also check out Don Juan, Zeitun and Harry Sasson restaurant at the Santa Teresa hotel.

We had relatives staying at the Santa Clara hotel and the pool was even better then ours! I would probably opt to stay there next time.

You must check out St. Dome a boutique with all Colombian designers.

Dior Cafe Review in Miami Design District

Happy Hump day!
I am in no way a food critic or a restaurant critic, but I travel often enough and go to many restaurants to know when a place is good vs. bad.

So last week Chase was on a business trip and I was sleep training Chloe. We woke up Saturday morning and my in laws picked up Jake to have a special day with him. I absolutely love going to the Design District and was dying to go to the Dior Cafe. So I asked Chase if we could go, I put on a cute dress because I was going to ask Chase to take some pictures, and how can he say no if I look cute?

We get there and everyone is there for the exact same reason – to take pictures. However, I am the only one with a toddler. Not only were the staff super rude – they never even tried to get Chloe to smile! The customers were just as rude. Chloe would go up to them and smile and they wouldn’t give her a smile back.

I totally understand it’s not anyone’s job to get Chloe to smile, but when you are spending $12 on a coffee don’t you think the staff should help at least?! I will say, however, that the coffee was amazing and I know my coffee. I would go back – but I would leave kiddies at home. I felt like we were in Europe:) So if you live in Miami and you want to feel like you have gotten away, check it out. It’s a very cute rooftop on the third floor of Dior. Just don’t forget to leave the toddlers at home, even though it looks like a perfect place for them with the fake animals, etc.!

Colorado!

Colorado is a very favorite place for my husband and me. It has so much to offer! Recently, we went to Breckenridge with the kids and took a mini, kids-free weekend to Aspen.

I wanted to share a guide on all that Breck and Aspen have to offer!

Breckenridge- First off, if you are looking for a vacation that’s super laid back and zero shopping (except for some cute kids’ and hat stores) then you would love Breckenridge. There are really nice low key spas without all of the fanciness to it. I went to Blue Sage for a manicure and waxing and the Chopping Block for a blowout. Loved them both! We stayed in town which is great when you have kids because you never have to get in a car.

There are so many amazing parks for kids all over town and even some easy hikes. Our favorite place to hang out was in the middle of town. There is a playground with sand and behind it there’s a stream where kids walk across and are able to step on rocks. There are kids of all ages enjoying it! We pretty much spent our days going from park to park! The weather is so beautiful – especially coming from Miami – and we really took advantage of being outdoors. What’s great about Breckenridge is that you can also go to Dillon where there is a farmer’s market on Saturdays and such a beautiful park that overlooks the lake.

We ended up taking Jake to the Rodeo in Beaver Creek which we highly recommend. It was pretty small and not overwhelming at all! We ate the most delic fish tacos from a vendor from Mexico who now lives in Colorado.

Aspen is the best of both worlds! Great for hikes, there is a huge field in the middle of town for dogs and kids + amazing shopping. There is a great splash pad for kids in the middle of town. It’s very kid-friendly but not as rustic as Breckenridge. One of our favorite restaurants is White House Tavern- it’s a Hilstone. They have the most delicious salads and french fries! We also loved Ajax for a fun lunch. There is a bakery in the middle of town called Paradise Bakery – and ps they give the most delic samples. We stayed in town which was perfect because we didn’t have to use our car.

You can’t go wrong with either places in Colorado! It is such a nice place to visit especially with kids and has so much to offer. Looking forward to vacationing there next summer!

This is the park in the middle of Breckenridge! Such a good park for all ages- Jake enjoyed it as well.

This is in Breckenridge right in town by the stream! So perfect for kids to play.

Of Course everyone else was in jeans and a tee! HA!

This is from the Beaver Creek Rodeo. They were giving free horseback riding to kids.

This was taken from our car ride trip from Breckenridge to Aspen- the most beautiful scenery.

This is from the Farmer’s Market in Dillon. There were vendors from all over Colorado!

This was taken in Apsen- how gorgeous are these flowers. They are perfectly placed everywhere!

These views!

Babyganics: The Best Tools for Staying Safe in the Sun!

Summer is officially here which means everyone is spending a ton of time outside in the sun. Staying indoors is totally out of the question, and we all know how pooped kids get when they play all afternoon in the pool.  It’s never a bad idea this time of year to opt for swimming and playing outside. When Jake goes in the pool we are adamant that he wear a swim shirt and we apply lots and lots of sunscreen to him.

Let me tell you about my must-have for summer: Babyganics.  A great brand with organic products for everyone in the family!

The Babyganics SPF 50+ sunscreen lotion has the best consistency of all sunscreen lotions – and trust me: we have tried them all!  It’s not at all greasy and is very easily applied.  It’s also really useful when applying to larger areas like back and legs.  The lotion contains zinc oxide – the most important ingredient for a sunscreen – and has a slew of oils that help to moisturize the skin. The lotion is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes.  Don’t forget to re-apply it thereafter!

I also love the Babyganics SPF 50+ sunscreen stick because it’s just so easy. It’s extremely compact and goes on very smoothly. I like the stick especially for little kids because, unlike lotion, it is extremely unlikely to get it in their eyes.  This is a great alternative if you have a fussy child  (like I do) who makes it difficult for you to put on sunscreen. Kids can even use the stick themselves without help: Jake took the stick and applied it to both himself and Chloe. It takes two seconds to apply and is great to keep handy at all times because it can’t spill.  The stick is the easiest way to make sure that Jake and Chloe wear sufficient sunscreen just like I do.

Mosquitoes are a big problem in Miami… but it seems like I can’t escape them anywhere because when we were visiting my sister in Wisconsin this past weekend I gotten bitten up there too!  The Babyganics natural insect repellent is perfect to keep the critters away because it doesn’t smell chemically and it is deet-free – so won’t harm the kiddos. It’s made from plants and essential oils and really gets the job done. I always keep insect repellent in my bag because getting bitten up by mosquitoes is no fun for anyone.

Thanks to Babyganics for helping us stay safe out there this summer!

Skin + Makeup Routine

Happy Friday Eve!

Most of the time (like 99.999 %) i’m not wearing makeup, but 100% of the time I have a skincare routine each morning.

Lets just start with this: I’m a mom of two who doesn’t like wearing makeup.  I find it so annoying to have to put it on to then have to take it off!  However, I have found that since I wake up with Chloe nearly 2-3 times per night I’m starting to look tired during the day.  When I go out at night now it would be nice to wear just a little bit. My eyes are also sensitive when it comes to mascara so I haven’t been using it, but I was given a sample of this makeup remover from By Terry and it didn’t bother my eyes!  It almost feels like water and it’s not oily at all. I’m able to put contacts in the next morning with no problem at all.

Every morning when I wake up I use iS Clinical Serum (yes, it’s pricey but I have seen a huge difference in my skin – it glows so much more since using it), I then use Skin Medica moisturizer before I apply on my sunscreen.  My sunscreen is tinted so it gives a little coverage.

When I do wear makeup I do this entire routine and then start off with the CC cream from By Terry.  If it’s during the day I’ll mix the sunscreen and cc cream.  I use the By Terry stick for my cheek bones which I am obsessed with because it comes with a brush and is so easy to put on. I never used to wear eye shadow, but I discovered this stick that I love. I then use a lash curler and before I put mascara on and LASTLY a red lip, of course.  My favorite red is from Chantecaille called Dahlia (ps I heard Angelina Jolie uses this makeup line for her lips and don’t we all want her lips)!

This routine is super easy and will take you under 5 minutes. While I don’t think anyone should be caking on the makeup by any means, it’s still nice to wear a little bit and enhance your beauty!
