Who would have predicted 2020 and half of 2021 was the year people would be working from home in sweat pants?! I read in the The New York Times that Nordstrom was unprepared for its customers’ search for “cozy” and “slippers”! Apparel sales in the U.S. declined 19 percent overall last year and there was a long list of retailer bankruptcies during the pandemic. People weren’t purchasing any business casual wear…
It’s been more than one year since going back to the office for so many people and there have been DRASTIC changes when it comes to a “work wardrobe.” I see it firsthand with my husband – when he’s not seeing clients his suit pants have transformed into fitted jeans, his everyday loafers are now sneakers, and his fancy button down top is now a cotton button down. His work uniform has transformed into comfort yet somehow polished even though he’s more casual! So, comfort will still be important but you still need to look polished enough to go to the office and grab after work drinks.
Life is short – so wear the colorful dress and throw on a pair of sneakers! Or if you’re in the mood to wear pants throw on dark jeans/a white blouse or pattern blouse/blazer and either a pair of heels or sneakers or sandals. You can even swap out the blouse for a white tee and throw on a pair of statement earrings or necklace! I have never believed in having different wardrobes- one for work and one for pleasure. Everything that you buy should be adaptable- so if you buy the dress to wear to work, you can style it differently for date night! Please take a look through favorites that are appropriate for any work space! You don’t need to wear heels every day- don’t forget you can wear the sneaker with a dress!
Denim shorts have been a staple in my wardrobe since I can remember! It’s just always been part of my everyday wear and I feel most comfortable in high waist shorts… Although I do love dresses there is something so hip and cool about shorts. I got these Ulla Johnson shorts (i’m wearing a size 2) and wanted to share how I style them three different ways, because I know the shorts could look a little limiting. These looks can take you from day to night! So if you’re looking for something fun to add to your summer wardrobe tie dye denim shorts are a great addition. I would wear # 1) crochet top during a hot summer day, #2) the white button down to a lunch and #3) the blazer for night time! If you prefer to wear heels for night time throw on a pair of sandals!
Sharing pieces that I wore on my trip + pieces that can be added to the never ending wishlist- so please buy them! In terms of bags- I brought my Dior tote for airports/traveling, white Chanel 19 bag for daytime and my Bottega Veneta Jodie for night time! By the end of the trip I was over seeing green on my feed so wore the white Chanel last night! LOL! I brought one pair of heels- nude because it goes with everything, one pair of workout sneakers, one pair of everyday sneakers- Saint Laurent sneakers + sandals.
PS I saw Christina Haack from Flip or Flop last night at dinner and she looks the same exact in person!
Last summer Chase and I took the kids on a road trip to Colorado- and let me tell: you it was an incredible, once-in-a-lifteime experience! For us at the time it was either traveling by car or staying in Miami when covid was raging. So we decided (on a Tuesday at 4 pm) to leave the next morning at 7 am for three weeks!
Things are looking different for us this summer, as we are both vaccinated. June 10th, one day after school ends, we are off on our first airplane ride since February 2020. We’re going on a plane for the first time in over 1.5 years to visit my sister and her family! I am crying just thinking about it – we haven’t seen each other since last February.
I have heard multiple people tell me they are going on a road trip and need help as to what to pack! So I’m here to help ease your mind, make it super easy and make sure you look cute at all times. You never know when you might have a perfect photo opportunity. I would say if you pick a couple from each category you should be fine. GOOD LUCK!
When I posted the Zimmermann pink dress so many of you asked me about it! Unfortunately it’s sold out. I got so many questions about daytime dresses in the $300-$500 range so I wanted to share with you all an edit! I always like to buy a dress that I can style different ways. If you can style it with sneakers- it’s a winner! Here I am showing you how I style an old Ulla Johnson dress with heels, sandals and sneakers!
