Heels are sexy – but sometimes you just need to wear flats!

Flats are not only comfortable- but they can be really stylish too.  Just last week my husband and I went to a nightclub for the first time in years and I decided to wear my sexy heels, and while I felt really sexy and super tall- when I got home I couldn’t feel my feet at 4am!  So then I thought to myself- was it worth it?  I totally should have worn flats..

Do you feel like you own heels that you can just wear to dinner and then have to go straight home? What if you want to walk to the bar down the street? Are you dreading walking down the block with your uncomfortable heels?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then check out some of the flats that I linked.  These are my favorite flats at the moment that can be worn to the office and then straight out to dinner and even to a club! Sometimes you just need to give your feet a break…

Happy Friday!

I wanted to share some of the tech-savvy things I learned today that Chevrolet is implementing in their cars. I am SO impressed and love that Chevy is – as they put it – “democratizing technology” – which means that from the most expensive Chevrolets, like the Stingray, to the least expensive, like the Spark, they all have the same technology! What’s cool is that there is a technology called MyLink which is an entertainment system that is integrated with WiFi and allows you to receive calls and text messages on the screen in your car all while your phone is stored away.  This ensures safety because you don’t have to look at your phone.

Lastly, I am very fortunate in that I have a navigation system in my car- however I have never used it.. I rely 100% on my iPhone to get me placed using maps. I loved learning that the Apple Car Play lets you use certain apps like Maps and it pulls up the information on your screen.  It is so useful so that with Apple Car Play you don’t have to look at your phone..

Monday I’ll be sharing with you a casual look on the blog … stay tuned!

Canada/ Baby Fall & Winter Clothes

We are in Canada for a friend’s wedding and I am just so happy that we brought Jake along with us. It is the first time that Jake really is experiencing cold weather. When we were in the Hamptons in May it wasn’t as cold as it is now. We knew when booking this flight that we weren’t going to want to leave Jake again since we were just in Europe, so here he is on the trip with us!

Last weekend we went on a complete warm weather clothing shopping spree for Jake because he didn’t really have any jackets, etc for him. He really is such a beach baby:) We ended up going to Old Navy and buying out the boys’ section! Some of my favorites were the two vests, a cute little hat, and booties. I also headed over to the Gap to find jeans because I didn’t love the ones offered at Old Navy. When buying clothes for babies you really shouldn’t buy expensive stuff because they really grow out of them quickly.

I am so excited to see Jake in a beanie, he’s going to look like such a hipster baby:)

Below please find some of my favorite cold weather items for babies.

Tomorrow we are off to the wedding, check Instagram for photos- wearing a dress I bought in Paris!

Selecting the Perfect Ankle Bootie

Measurement (shaft):
Booties in the fall are perfect especially when you are still trying to wear some of your summer staples such as shorts. HOWEVER, There are so many different options when it comes to booties and depending on your height you should be aware of where the ankle part hits. For example, I am 5 feet 8 inches tall and the ankle boots I am wearing pictured measure 5 inches from the top of the bootie to the ankle, this is actually called the shaft.

When I was buying them last year with one of my best friends she tried on the same bootie and she is 5 foot 3 inches and they didn’t look right on her because they were cutting off her leg. We realized that the perfect length for her was the Harrow bootie from Rag and Bone which measures 4 inches from the top of the bootie to the ankle. Just be sure to try on the bootie to make sure that it isn’t cutting your leg off. I wish I could say that if you’re 5 foot 3 then opt for anything less then 4.5 inch shaft, but it really depends on the bootie. When you are taller you can get away with the ankle part hitting anywhere but if you are shorter than lets say 5 feet 6 inches then be aware of where the ankle hits and be sure to ask people around you for your opinion!

Color:
I like neutral dark grey because it goes with both black and brown. The heel is also the perfect size because I can wear them all day long from meeting a client to then going out for dinner and drinks. When selecting a color be sure to understand what clothing colors you generally wear before picking our a pair. Although, I will say that nowadays you can totally wear black with brown and vice versa!

How to Style:
I paired the booties with a pair of shorts which is one of my favorite combos. Here in Florida I will be able to wear this combo all fall/winter but if you live in a colder climate then you can wear a pair of tights underneath the shorts. Another one of my favorite combos with booties is to pair it with a short dress. The look is so fun and flirty!

Soon on the blog I will share with you a perfect bootie for all heights.
