Are Golden Goose Worth the Splurge?

Hi Guys!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I post so many outfits with sneakers that the occasional times I wear heels for date night you guys comment on it. So, I wanted to take the time to write about my thoughts on Golden Goose sneakers and discuss if they are worth it and share my favorites.

I had been wanting the sneakers for such a long time but I couldn’t justify the price because I live in Miami and wear sandals all the time. BUT then I became pregnant with Chloe during the whole Zika scare and I splurged.  I had to wear closed toe shoes, so it was the perfect excuse.  They became my “fancy” shoes for going out. While Golden Goose are VERY expensive, if you calculate the cost and how much you wear them it makes sense, I promise!

Ever since my first pair I have been HOOKED. Not only do they look good with everything- from casual dresses, to cocktail dresses you can style them with EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. I am not the type of person that can wear heels all day and be comfortable so these are a great alternative.  I can wear heels to dinner- but if I want to walk around I need a flat. Alright, Golden Goose might not look as sexy as a heel but they are very cool and comfy- so comfortable that you don’t need to break them in. I prefer to wear sneakers when i’m with my kids over sandals because I end up carrying them around so much and I just think its more comfortable.

There are three styles that I own- the regular version, the mid and the slide (high top). The slide are the newest to my closet and they are fab, I get so many compliments. I actually found my slide pair at the Golden Goose store and searched online for them and found them for $200 cheaper on Farfetch. All three style shoes are great, and what I love about Golden Goose shoes is that there are so many different versions. If your style is more simple you can go for an all white pair and have the pop of color on the star, which gives it a fun but more toned down look.  If you are more funky opt for a sparkly or leopard pair.

Sizing tips: In the regular and mid sneaker I am a 38 and i’m usually a 37.5 / 38, however in the slide definitely go down one size.. I own a 37 in the slide.

See below my favorite pairs!  It’s worth the splurge:)

How to Style a Sparkly Skirt

Hi Guys!

I remember when I lived in NYC I had a mini (of course) sparkly skirt that I wore to death that I splurged on that was from Alice and Olivia (I probably had to work one month to pay for it)! I say mini of course because that’s all I used to wear, I don’t think I ever wore anything past my mid thigh until I was in my 30s. I was a little chunky- I held all of my extra weight on my waist- so If I wore a mini skirt and a baggy top you couldn’t tell because my legs were always so skinny.  Thanks to a healthy lifestyle I don’t have to worry about covering up my tummy anymore, even after two kids!

Now-a-days I much prefer a midi skirt over a mini, but don’t get me wrong i’m still into mini skirts. I also think if you want to wear a sparkly skirt it looks much classier in a midi style.  There are so many different ways to style a midi sparkly skirt.  Now-a-days you don’t have to just wear a sparkly skirt on new years- you can wear it the following ways:

  1.  Paired with sneakers and a stripe tee for a laid back look.
  2. Paired with a tucked in sweater and either sneakers or a heel.
  3.  Paired with heels and a tucked in blouse for a more cocktail attire look.
  4. Paired with heels and a denim button down tucked in for a more casual dressy look.

Here are some of my favs that are perfect for new years or even for date night!

Thoughts on the Nikki Bag

Hi guys!

I have been asked by so many of you if the Nikki bag is worth the investment so I wanted to give you a little low down on my thoughts.

~ Compared to a Chanel it is very reasonable priced, this is priced at $2,250 and a Chanel bag this size is around $4,000 +

~ It’s very light weight so good to travel with because of the cracked leather it can’t be ruined at all

~ Can fit a water bottle which is always a plus for me and if you want to run out and you have a baby like me you can fit a diaper and small pack of wipes!

~ You can wear it on your shoulder or crossbody.  I always like crossbody because you don’t have to hold it and can focus on really using your hands!

~ Very durable – great throw around bag

~It comes in multiple colors, I love the grey because it’s so neutral

I think it’s totally worth it and goes with so much.  You can style it with workout clothes to date night.  I remember seeing someone in Aspen over the summer wearing it crossbody with her workout clothes and thought to myself it really is such a great bag!

Activewear Essentials For Looking Your Best!

Happy 2019 everyone! In the new year everyone is motivated to workout so I wanted to share some of my favorite workout essentials! I find that if you feel good in what you’re wearing you will workout harder + more motivated to actually go!

Also, if you wear something that looks cute to y0ur workout you wear it all day long and not feel like you have to change.

Onto Styling: Just like with jeans the style has leaned towards high waisted and the same goes with workout pants. I’m sorry but I CRINGE when I see someone wearing low rise workout pants. What’s the point of them? They don’t do anything for your body! At least high waist sucks you in and makes your tushy look better.  You don’t need to spend $200 on Ultracor you can also get the similar look with Splits59.

To pair with your high waist pants I love to wear cropped tanks or tees. They don’t need to show your tummy because the high rise is covering most of it. I find that this look is good for all body types esp if you have a tushy!

When wearing sneakers make sure to always wear socks that are no show! I discovered APL sneakers a couple of years ago when I was pregnant with Chloe and I haven’t been able to wear any other  brand since, the are so comfortable and light weight. I highly recommend.  I even do weights in them.

Thank you ALL!

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all for reading my blog! I so appreciate it and it’s because of you that I continue to do it. What inspires me is how much you care about me + my family and this means the world to me.

I am so happy that I am able to inspire people through what I wear, what I’ve been through, and my family.   My goal is for a follower to say “I’m going to dinner .. let me see what Miami Style Mom recently wore” and get inspired.

I grew up with a family of doctors and I was always into fashion, but my parents never understood – and probably still don’t – and I’m sure I don’t have any family members who read my blog…. I needed a creative outlet. Growing up, I vicariously lived through fashion magazines cutting things out that inspired me and that I prayed I would be able to wear one day.  I used to make daily collages on posters and hang them in my room.  I studied Marketing at the University of Denver as this was the “creative” business degree.

Thanks to my hubby for allowing me to follow my passion – I really owe it all to him.  When I started traveling a TON for Perry Ellis and we knew we wanted to start a family my husband told me to start what I always wanted to do – styling and personal shopping.  This was around 2013 and I started blogging as well.  I feel like I have come a far way since then and I can’t wait for 2019!

In 2019 I’m going to focus more on sharing my look for less. Here’s the dress I’m twirling in + the look for less. This exact dress is from Intermix and it’s actually not that pricey.  There are so many ways to style this dress as well- you can dress it up or dress it down.

Let me know if there is something you want to see more of.

How To Wear a Boyfriend Blazer

Hi!
Happy humpday! Last night I went to dinner with some girl friends to celebrate the holidays, which I rarely do. I know I have talked about this but Chase and I tend to do things together and rarely go on separate dates. BUT last night I went out and had a blast and much needed friend time. I decided to wear my white blazer that was gifted to be from Lafayette 148 New York which can be purchased from Lafayette 148 New York or Bergdorf Goodman. Yes, the blazer is super pricey but the material is just beautiful.

While I know it’s a little too pricey I wanted you all to be able to wear this similar style with out breaking the bank. When it comes to breaking the bank- I prefer to spend my money on shoes and bags. I think clothes can come from anywhere and as long as you have nice accessories it’s easy to dress it up and look nice. However- I did pack this blazer to California and didn’t have to steam it at all- it packs so well, so it’s worth the splurge + it won’t ever go out of style!

The key to buying a white blazer is making sure it’s a bit over sized that gives it the edgy look. I paired it with a white bodysuit tank (tagged same brand but tee version instead of tank), my favorite jeans, Chanel slides ( similar here), and denim bag (similar here).
