Styling a Ruffle Maxi Dress + Look For Less Options

(I just dropped the kids at school and Jake said to me “mom- I love going to school.”) I can’t keep up! if you have been following along my blog, a couple of weeks ago Jake refused to go to school! I just looked at him and smiled:) It’s so stressful when he’s upset. The chart for us worked- and I only had to do it for one week. Email me if you want more details.

There are so many ways to style a maxi dress, and as you can see one of my favorite ways is to style them with sneakers! Since i’m running around all day and usually chasing my kiddos on the weekends, sneakers are always the best option for me. We always at some point end up at a park and I want to be able to run around with Jake & Chloe. Honestly even at restaurants i’m running around after Chloe. However- there are so many different ways to style this type of dress.

I would style it with pair of slides like the Hermes Oran or for the look for less the Sam Edelman pair which I linked below. I also love this look with a lace-up sandal which I also linked. It gives the look a more bohemian feel with a lace- up sandal. If you are wearing this dress on a date day you can wear it with a beach clutch or a denim bag. I prefer to wear these types of dresses with flats- so don’t style it with a wedge PLEASE! If you wear a wedge it should be with a super long dress (so the shoes is hidden).

It’s All About Comfort When it Comes to Swimsuits…

As it is, wearing a swimsuit is out of most of our comfort zones. It’s something that shows off your entire body. I remember after I had hip surgery I tried to hide my scars and only would wear ruffle boy short bottoms for a long time. Thankfully, at the time Juicy was making them and I thought they were super cool. I learned later to embrace the scars and to not give a shit! Now I am dealing with veins on my legs and Chase says who cares – it is what it is!

I have been into so many swimsuit styles. When I was feeling skinny, I would opt for a teeny tiny bikini, and when I was feeling chunky I would do the tankini (this was years ago)! Please stay away from the tankinis now!

Nowadays I am most comfortable in a high waist two piece & one piece. I actually prefer the high waist bottoms because it hides my “bad spot” and I feel it shows the perfect amount of tummy skin. All of my weight has always gone to my tummy – so I can’t blame it on the fact that all of my weight goes to my stomach. I just feel like the high waist style looks good on everyone no matter what size you are! It also has that really cool retro vibe.

Hope you like the options I have chosen in all price ranges.

Styling a Ruffle Top!

Happy humpday! When styling a baggy bohemian top you should style it with a pair of high waist jeans tucked in! I actually got this top a while ago- and I never liked the way it looked until I paired it with these jeans ( see below) and my high waist jeans with buttons. I love this type of shirt because it’s so comfy and you don’t feel restricted. I’m not so into tight clothing, I usually feel uncomfortable and always regret wearing it. I don’t know if it’s because I always held my weight in my stomach- but I prefer loose!

I styled this top with my white Chanel mules that are so uncomfortable – don’t get them! They totally gave me a blister yesterday- hoping they eventually become more comfy. I decided to wear this outfit with my Saint Laurent bag because I love grey with yellow. I also love yellow with green, pink, and navy. and red. Shop this similar look + look for less:

Happy Monday! Today was def not an easy Monday- Chase is traveling for work and Jake did not want to go to school, so it was quite stressful, but after I dropped him off his teacher sent me a picture of him smiling:) I wanted to share this story on my Instagram and blog because I have been feeling like sometimes we all portray out lives to be perfect – but clearly nothing is perfect and there are things that we all go through.

When your Jewelry Tells a Story…

I’m a true believer that the way you dress and accessorize shows a lot about your personality and tells a story.

My Story jewelry was created by Jackie Cohen.  At 42 years old, Jackie decided to adopt a baby. She created a band with her babies birthstone and from that point on this band sparked conversation everywhere she went and My Story was born.  Each piece of jewelry from My Story has a meaning behind it.

When selecting my ring I wanted to show my love for travel, and what better way to say love than in French. Paris is one of my favorite places. It has everything my husband and I like to do – shop at the best places, eat at the best restaurants and AMAZING people watching.

Traveling to me is so important and I’m trying to instill this is my children. You can learn so much about different cultures when traveling and it gives you a different perspective on life. This picture was taken on my way back from Colombia.  I’m so lucky that I was able to travel there and show my family a place I grew up going to each and every year.

This ring is just so perfect. I love the way it’s dainty enough to stack and looks good with my other rings!

Styling a Cropped White Tee + Top Five Favorite Under $100

Hi Everyone!
Some of you asked to share my favorite white tees so I wanted to do a blog post sharing my favorites at the moment that wouldn’t break the bank. I find myself wearing my AGOLDE one all the time, that I think it’s time to get another one. It’s really the perfect white tee, not too baggy and if it’s paired with high wasted jeans it’s the perfect length.

Again, I can’t mention enough times on my blog not to forget to wear high waist with anything that is cropped, no one should see your belly button!  It’s funny I was at a cute store in Surfside getting gifts for a friend’s baby and the cute owner showed me this crop top and shorts outfit for Chloe and I just can’t do it.  I feel weird dressing Chloe in crop tops:)  So I guess I have a weird thing showing too much belly.

Onto styling: Other ways I love styling this tee is with a high wasted midi skirt or my black leather mini skirt.  I just bought a sparkly skirt to wear for my cousin’s rehearsal dinner and I can’t wait to style it with my white tee and sneakers!

Anyways, there are so many brands out there that have their own take on the simple white crop top tee because it’s an essential in your wardrobe to have. If you have to rush out the door in the mornings like I do myself to get the kids to school, it’s so easy to just throw on my white tee, high waist jeans, and a pair of Golden Goose. You really look totally put together but casual and cute.  Accessorizing is key: I am in LOVE with this new heart necklace from Lola James Jewelry!
